BRF Episode 05: “Ash”

Warning: Some content in this episode could be upsetting. We talk briefly about death and cremation. If that is something that will upset you, please listen with discretion.

Are your chickens plagued with parasites? Are your headlights fuzzy with scratches? Is your driveway icy? If you answered yes to any of these, you’ve got to listen to this episode. Also handy tip: avoid volcanic erections.

No end to the sage advice in this episode, guys. We did discuss slightly darker themes of death and cremation, but that’s unavoidable with the word randomly generated for us this episode. What was more impressive was Shar’s explanation of how a jet engine works and why planes need to avoic volcanic eruptions, especially ones with unpronounceable names. Like seriously. Just fly around them.

We also talked about an unusual find in the archaeological digs from Pompeii before we shot down “Morbid” street, not just “Morbid” Street though - to the intersection of “Morbid” and “Hella Interesting” Street! From memorial body ink, to Vinyls laced with loved ones’ ashes, to Gene Roddenberry’s posthomous journey into space, there’s something poetic about our need to memorialise the dead, albeit sometimes in weird ways.

We finished with a foray into sports, the buffs that we are. Jokes aside, the story behind the series of test matches named The Ashes was enlightening!

Enjoy!
