BRF Episode 08: “Mirror”
Before we get into it, we wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who is listening to our podcast and reading our blogs! Like we say in the episode, it makes us very excited to keep doing what we’re doing.
Okay, now about this episode: it has some great public service announcements that you should take note of. Here’s one to whet your appetite: Don’t pee in a changing room. That’s it. Pretty self-explanatory!
In this episode, we take listeners through the history of the mirror and ponder the magpie-like nature of humans in their obsession for shiny things. We journey from the sands of the Egyptian civilization to a janitorial closet in an American club - what a ride! But most jokes aside, we went from the history of the mirror to debating what guild is it easier to be a part of - guild of mirorrers or pepperers? If you’re lacking a sense of direction like Shar, we suspect you will go the way she did. From guilds we went to genuis artists who helped revolutionise painting in the renaissance era and it’s possibly one of the most fascinating segments we have done so far! Let’s just say that good ol’ “Fillipos” is a good ‘un.
We also talked about non reversing mirrors, and how a reflection of your reflection (which is your true self) is a horrifying thing for most; if it isn’t please tell us what you’re doing right and how we can do it too! From horrifying to the fascinating - Aranmula Kannadis gave us the opportunity to add a malayalam word to Ragini’s extensive vocabulary of malayalam words; it now stands at a grand total of two words!
We taught you to do the fingernail test, so please do it in any changing rooms you might enter. Remember, we’re always looking out for you!
