BRF Episode 24: “Speed”

We start off somewhere predictable - speed limits - the facts are anything but! Learn speed regulations in the countries that matter - the US and the UK (we kid, we kid)! We stayed well away from the speed limits in India, otherwise known as “fast enough to overtake the guy in front of you”. We also learned about the super satisfying speeding fines handed out in Switzerland. And we reconsider the upcoming visit to Paris…

We also discussed an interesting claim that men today are the weakest in history and would have been trumped in feats of strength or speed by our ancient ancestors. Okay, is it just us or is this believable?

Dorothy Levitt featured in Shar’s segment and boy are we glad she did. She’s a super-interesting figure in motoring history. We tell her story and talk a bit about her book which has gems of advice for the modern (in the 1900s anyway) motoring woman, such as “Don’t forget your gun”. Classic!

If we’re talking speed and humans, we couldn’t leave Kenya out of it! Competitive running is a national obsession and we delve a little into the why and how of it.

We also got ourselves into knots talking about how the the speed of ships are measured and ended on a very cheery meltdown from Shar - reminding us all of a small fact - we’re hurtling into the unknown on a watery rock. Yay!

Anyhoo, take a listen!
